Lights Up

Musical Theater Class Series

Our goal is for students to discover the joy of musical theater while building skills that last a lifetime. Through singing, acting, and movement, young performers develop confidence, creativity, communication, collaboration, and a strong sense of belonging.

The Lights Up Class Series brings high-quality musical theater education to students in grades K–8 through supportive classes where every student has the opportunity to grow, participate, and shine.

Launching this fall after a successful spring pilot, Lights Up Musical Theater Classes are presented by the Michelle Shuttleworth Towler Voice Studio, with nearly 20 years of experience in voice and theater education.

FALL MUSICAL THEATER CLASSES

  • Kindergarten - 2nd Grade Musical Theater Players

    Tuesdays 4:15 - 5:00 PM

    Wednesdays 4:00 - 4:45 PM

A joyful introduction to the world of musical theater! Young performers build confidence while exploring the fundamentals of singing, music, acting, and storytelling through imaginative games and creative activities. Students learn age-appropriate songs with simple choreography, develop basic musical skills, and discover the excitement of performing together in a fun, encouraging environment.

  • 3rd - 5th Grade Musical Theater: Songs and Scenes

    Wednesdays 4:45 - 6:00 PM

Designed for elementary students ready to take the next step, this class develops the core skills of musical theater performance. Students build healthy singing habits through age-appropriate vocal technique and ear training while strengthening acting skills through improvisation, character development, and scene work. Each semester features ensemble musical theater numbers, with featured solo opportunities for students who are interested and ready.

  • 6th - 8th Grade Musical Theater Workshop

    Tuesdays 5:00 - 6:30 PM

A comprehensive musical theater program for middle school performers who want to strengthen their skills and gain real performing experience. Students develop healthy vocal technique, acting skills, improvisation, and stage presence while working collaboratively as an ensemble.

Fall Semester: Students rehearse and perform a musical theater revue featuring ensemble numbers, with solo opportunities for interested performers.

Spring Semester: The class stages a mini musical, giving students the opportunity to experience the complete theater process—from auditions and casting to rehearsals, character development, and performance. Students learn how to work as an ensemble and bring a show to life.
